International accordion competition Ascoltate 2009
The 9th international accordion competition ‘Ascoltate 2009’ will be held in Prienai, Lithuania, from June 3rd to 7th. ‘Ascoltate 2009’ is organized by Veiveriai Antanas Kučingis Art School together with the Kaunas Accordionists‘ Society. This competition is the only international accordion contest in Lithuania, and is notable for its high performance standard .
The first competition took place in 1993, and proved popular from the very beginning, featuring a wide range of categories from soloists to various compositions of ensembles and orchestras. Since 2005 the competition has included evening concerts. The initiators of this festival were also the founders of the Accordionists‘ Society – Gražina Lukošienė and Birutė Rušėnienė, who were lecturers at the Kaunas J. Gruodis Conservatory.
The jury will comprise: Viatcheslav Semionov (Russia), Raymond Bodell (UK), Mirco Patarini (Italy), Roman Pechman (Austria), and Eduardas Gabnys (Lithuania).
The final date for entries is April 1st.
