I. ORGANIZERS
Local administration of Prienai region, Veiveriai A.Kucingis School of art, Kaunas accordion society.

II. PLACE AND TIME
Competition will be held in Lithuania, Prienai town in June 3-7, 2009 at the Cultural Centre concert hall by address Vytauto str. 35 in Prienai.
The closing ceremony of the competition will take place at the Cultural Centre concert hall in Prienai on the 7th of June 2009.

III. PARTICIPANTS
The competition is open for young accordionists of different ages. They can participate as soloists or as the members of an ensemble or an orchestra.

IV. COMPETITION PROCEDURE AND REPERTOIRE
It is a one - round competition.
The lists will be made according to the age of participants. Competitors will be divided into the following categories:

CLASSICAL MUSIC CATEGORIES (A)
Category Age group Duration
A1 1998 and after Up to 5 min.
A2 1997-1996 Up to 7 min.
A3 1995-1994 Up to 9 min.
A4 1993-1992 Up to 12 min.
A5 1991-1990 Up to 15 min.
The competitors of these categories must perform not less than 2 compositions:
1. Baroque or classical composition(s);
2. Free choice program.
The program should consist of pieces reflecting different moods. The number of the participants will be limited. The organizing committee will admit the first 100 application forms of the candidates.


VARIETE CATEGORIES (B)

B4 1993-1992 Up to 10 min.
B5 1991-1990 Up to 12 min.
The competitors of these categories must perform not less than 2 compositions in variete style.
The number of the participants will be limited. The organizing committee will admit the first 100 application forms of the candidates.


ENSEMBLE CATEGORIES (C)

C1 2-5 accordions Up to 12 min. The average of the age of all the participants of an ensemble - up to 15 year old.
C2 2-5 accordions Up to 15 min. The average of the age of all the participants of an ensemble - from 15 year old and over.
The competitors of these categories must perform not less than 2 compositions reflecting different moods.


MIXED ENSEMBLE CATEGORIES (D)

Up to 12 min. The average of the age of all the participants of an ensemble - up to 15 year old.

Up to 15 min. The average of the age of all the participants of an ensemble - from 15 year old and over.
The competitors of these categories must perform not less than 2 compositions reflecting different moods.


ACCORDION ORCHESTRA CATEGORY (E)

The competitors of this category must perform not less than 2 compositions reflecting different moods.


JAZZ CATEGORY (F)

The participants of jazz category have to perform an obligatory theme (look at www.ascoltate.akordeonas.lt) and a program of free choice, where the main emphasis must be on improvisation. Jazz ensembles can accompany the accordion soloists.


V. JURY
The performances will be judged by an international jury appointed by the organizer.
The names of the jury members will be announced prior to the beginning of the competition.
The jury reserves the right to interrupt performances exceeding the time limit.
The jury's decisions will be final and not be subject to appeal.

VI. AWARDS AND PRIZES
Grand Prix will be awarded for the absolute winners in each category. Diplomas, money prizes and other valuable prizes will be handed to Grand Prix winners and their teachers.
Diplomas and valuable prizes will be handed to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.
Diplomas and valuable prizes will be handed to the teachers of the laureates - for their highest professional skills (at the discretion of the jury).
Diplomas and prizes will be handed to other highly evaluated participants of the competition.
A certificate and a gift will be handed to each participant of the competition. Their teachers and accompanists will receive the certificates as well. The Competition reserves the right to the recordings of all live performances and concerts of the Competition without any compensation to the competitors. This applies to any format including but not limited to electronic audio, video and digital media, radio and TV broadcasts.

VII. THE REGISTRATION FEE (Cannot be repaid)
For the participants of categories A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 55 EUROs;
For categories B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 55 EUROs;
For categories C1, C2, D1, D2 60 EUROs;
For category E- 70 EUROs;
For category F for free.
You won't be allowed to make changes in your program on arrival.
About the changes in the program, please, inform till the 15th of April by e-mail: mindaugas@akordeonas.lt

VIII. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Entries must be made on the attached application form and must reach the competition secretary before the 1st of April, 2009. The following documents should be included with the application form:
• a copy of birth certificate (it is necessary to have the original on the arrival at the competition);
• an official confirmation of the payment of the fee.

All the information about registration and rehearsals will be sent out with an invitation card by the 1st of May, 2009. The organizer does not take any responsibility for loss or damage of documents prior to receipt. Travelling and accommodation costs are at the expense of the competitors and their accompanists.

XII. ACCOMMODATION
The organizers of the competition hope that the students will not only take part in the competition, but will also have a good time and get pleasant impressions (their teachers and parents as well). Accommodation at near by health - resort Birštonas (7 km from Prienai) can be provided for the participants and accompanying persons.
You will have the opportunity to spend Your leisure time enjoying the beautiful landscape arround Birštonas, cycling, playing tennis, sailing along the river Nemunas. You may also enjoy wellness and beauty services provided by Birštonas sanatoriums „Tulpė“ and „Versmė“.
